“Stop
Worrying About The Things You Cannot Control.”
As I write this, I am in debt
As I write this, My landlord has asked me to vacate my
rental home and I have no means to acquire a house of my own nor a another
rental home.
As I write this, my father sleeps in another room, he has 3
blocks for his heart.
As I write this, my mother who is a diabetic sleeps besides
my father and is recovering from an injury to her toe.
As I write this I wonder what is to become of me, what is my
fate, what is my destiny.
An unknown future that is all I see but in truth I know
that’s not all that it can be.
Stop worrying about things you can’t control and start
working and moving towards the things that you can.
The story of Joseph amazes me, a young Joseph in prison yet
even in there he never stopped using his gift, even in a prison cell facing
an unknown future not knowing when the doors to his liberation might open he waited patiently.
The story of Daniel is another, thrown into the lion’s den,
he must have surely thought “Oh, This is the end.” But as the hungry lions drew
closer he prayed and asked for mercy and the lions fasted all night and Daniel
walked away unharmed the next morning.
The story of Moses and the people of Israel is the same,
they left Egypt came to the banks of the red sea and saw no way ahead, they
were afraid, some of them might have said “Now we are going to die, where did
Moses lead us” others might have embraced their loved ones saying their
final goodbye but then Moses prayed and the sea opened and they passed safely
onto the other side.
What we think is the end may not be the end, it just maybe
the start of A New Beginning.
If I can control anything it must be my mouth, if I can
control anything it must be my anger, if I can control anything it must be my
thoughts, fears and anxiety, if I can control anything it must be my words.
Each and every one of us, at different stages of our lives
face the mountain, at times the mountain takes the form of debt, sometimes
sickness, other times fear, struggle, heartache etc… and just by looking at it
we assume that this is a trial or situation, that we may never overcome.
But God says, Take the first step my champion, take the
first step my son, my daughter, my child trust in me and I will help you, I
will give you strength to climb, I will give you food to eat, I will give you
friends and supporters who at every stage of your journey shall come to your
aid, you aren’t climbing this mountain alone this battle is not a duel or a joust,
I will send you help and guidance and you are capable and more than enough.
But being who we are, we see the mountain and attempt to climb it on our own, we talk to God but many of us do not wait and listen to what He has to say, we ask for help but we ask the wrong people and the doors we knock on do not open, we seek but do not find because we are trying to make it on our own, we are trying to do it with our might and refuse to let Gods might carve out our path.
We are so hurried to come up with a solution that we
aren’t willing to wait for God’s blessing to take root, we run from pillar to
post seeking loans at higher prices, seeking help from people who prey upon us
to satisfy their greed, we become puppets and prisoners to the world of men and
misfits and then we do not know what to do.
I did things my way for a long time and now I don’t want to do that anymore, I’ve decided to wait for God to act.
To God be the Glory.
Have a wonderful day.
